The Government’s Migration Strategy was released on 11 December 2023 and outlines the largest set of changes for decades. The new 'policy roadmap' contains 8 key actions and over 25 new policy commitments and areas for future reform. Some of the changes have already been implemented, and some are expected throughout this year.
THIS SESSION WILL COVER THESE IMPACTS FOR EMPLOYERS
1. Replacing the Temporary Skills Shortage visa (subclass 482) with a new Skills in Demand visa that will contain three tiers of skills.
2. More pathways to permanent residence.
3. Worker mobility. Workers will be able to move employers while holding their visa.
4. A public register of all employers who are sponsors, containing detailed information.
5. Increased compliance checks, greater penalties, and more data sharing between government authorities.
5. Changes to regional visas and the Working Holiday Maker Program to support regional Australia
